(Q) How do I register?
(A) To register click on the "register" link found at both the top and bottom of the page.
(Q) I'm under 18 and can't signup?
(A) Since placing a bid at an auction is a binding, contract, those under 18 are not allowed to bid.
Bidding
(Q) How can I place a bid?
(A) To place a bid on an item you must first login to your account. Once logged in a bidding box will be displayed at bottom of all auction pages. You can use this box to place you chosen bid
(Q) How can I keep track of items I'm bidding on?
(A) You can keep an eye on everything you are bidding on by visiting your members area and selecting the "bidding" page.
(Q) How do I know if I am outbid on an item?
(A) Our auction system will automatically notify you via email if you are outbid.
(Q) How do I cancel my bid?
Once you submit a bid, you may not retract it. Once you place a bid, you have entered into a legally binding contract with Winternitz, Inc. We reserve the right, and you acknowledge and agree to its exercise of this right, to notify third parties, including law enforcement authorities, credit bureaus, other auction companies and industry regulators and authorities, about bidder's involved with or connected to fraudulent bidding or the failure to fully pay invoices in accordance with our terms and conditions.
(Q) What does Reserve Mean?
The Reserve is the lowest price an lot will be sold for. This amount is usually higher than the starting bid and is determined before a lot is put up for auction. This reserve amount is kept private by the seller. To become a successful bidder at an auction with a reserve, your bid must be greater than or equal to the reserve. Reserve pricing is never disclosed.
(Q) Which lots have reserves?
If there is a reserve on a particular lot, the bid screen will show "Reserve Met" or "Reserve Not Yet Met".
(Q) What is Maximum Bid or Auto Bid?
The Auto Bid feature will bid incrementally on your behalf, so that your bid will remain one increment above any other bid, up to your maximum bid

For Example: You are the successful current high bidder at $500. (with a maximum bid of $1000.). Another bidder places a bid at $850. The system will place your bid at the next allowable bid over $850. This system will continue to bid incrementally on your behalf if there are any other bidders up to $1000.
(Q) What time zone are you in?
Most auctions close in the Central Standard Time Zone, (CST) unless otherwise disclosed.
(Q) Why does the End Time keep changing?
Using our Extenda-Bid technology, the closing time will increase to five minutes if any bidder places a bid during the last five minutes of an item. This five minute extension will continue until all bidding activity has stopped for a period of five minutes. This allows bidders the opportunity to rebid and win the lot! At its sole discretion, Winternitz Inc. may close any auction, at any time without warning.
(Q) What kind of computer do I need to bid?
Any computer that can use Internet Expolorer, Netscape Navigator, or Mozilla Firefox browsers. The browser must have Java enabled in order to bid. The site is optimized for Internet Explorer, some functions or features may not work properly with Netscape or Firefox
(Q) How do I bid without a computer?
We realize that sometimes travel or other commitments might prevent you from bidding on an item. You have two options: You can leave a "Maximum Bid" and the system will automatically bid on your behalf. You can also fill out an absentee form (click here to download) and email, fax or mail it to us and we will bid on your behalf. Unfortunately, we cannot accept phone bids at this time.
(Q) How are the bid increments set?
Bidding increments are determined by our software to best simulate a live auction. Increments will be smaller on lesser priced items and greater on higher priced items. It does not make sense to have a $1.00 increment on a $100,000.00 piece of equipment, nor a $5,000.00 increment on a $1,000.00 item.
(Q) What is the current bid?
The current high bid is always the amount of the leading bidder. If you are the current high bidder at the close of the auction, and a reserve is met, if any, you will have the winning bid!
(Q) What is the starting bid?
This is the amount of the first bid required to start the bidding. It is not possible to bid less than this amount.
(Q) How did I get outbid so fast?
The previous high bidder also had a Auto Bid. The Auto Bid feature always bids incrementally on your behalf against other bidders immediately. This instantaneous bidding keeps you the high bidder until someone is willing to bid more!
(Q) What screen resolution should my computer have?
It is recommended to set your screen setting to a minimum resolution of 800 X 600 pixels. Your bidding experience will be more enjoyable if the resolution is set to at least 1024 X 768 pixels.
(Q) What web browser should I use?
WinternitzOnline.com is optimized for Internet Explorer Versions 6 and above. Also Java is required to be turned on for most site functions to work properly.
(Q) What does Buyers Premium and Why do I have to Pay it?
A Buyers Premium is an additional fee added to the bid price on each lot. As a buyer, set your "top price" on an item and stop bidding at the percent of premium being charged. For example, if a 10% buyers premium is being charged and your top price is $100.00, stop bidding at $90.00. If $90.00 is the top bid, you will be charged a buyers premium of $9.00 or a total of $99.00 and will have saved a dollar!

(Q) How can Winternitz Help Me?
Through the activities of our Auction Division, Winternitz, Inc. can assist our clients in restoring liquidity to their operations through the sale of their manufacturing, operating and service equipment. A properly prepared and advertised auction sale creates excitement within the industry, and is an event drawing wide attention. An auction provides a forum, for you, the seller, to market your assets to a diverse group of buyers, in a competitive arena. This environment allows you to realize the maximum return on your assets, within a very short period of time.

Preparing a group of assets, or an entire facility, for an auction sale is a complicated process. Our goal is take our clients through this process as smoothly as possible. Winternitz, Inc. brings over 100 years of experience in accomplishing this goal.
Our first step is to create a program that encompasses all phases of the physical preparation, as well as the advertising and sale procedures most suitable to the specifics of our client's situation. Our sales supervisors and management personnel will discuss with you and your staff all sale preparations and procedures to insure that everyone knows what their responsibilities are and to make all preparations run smoothly.

We start by preparing detailed descriptions and taking photographs of the machinery and equipment as soon as the machinery has been cleaned; then we begin the preparation of the advertising and promotion of the auction.
Cleaning and repairs to machines should be done before your labor force is depleted. If no one is available, the use of casual labor will be required. Gathering and placement of parts, tooling, supplies, etc., will be determined after a sale plan has been established and as the various departments have ceased operations.

Winternitz personnel will prepare all aspects of the advertising for the auction sale. This includes a camera-ready design and layout of the brochure and trade publication ads. We believe absolute advertising control is a key ingredient to a successful auction sale. This assures us that every brochure is mailed on time; therefore, reaching the buyer in time for him to make appropriate financial plans and travel arrangements

Winternitz will prepare a detailed inventory of all items to be sold. The descriptions will include the name of the manufacturer, the model, capacity, function, serial number, special features, horsepower of motors and any other applicable information.

We will photograph all items of interest, major machines, as well as lesser items, since all items are psychologically important in producing a large and interested buyer attendance.

All photographs and descriptions will be categorized and displayed in a brochure in such a fashion as to create an informative and attractive direct mail brochure.

The brochure will be mailed first-class to all related and interested companies, saturating the region within a few hundred miles of the facility, and selectively mailing to major buyers throughout the United States, also Canada, Mexico, South America, or Over Seas, if applicable.

We maintain, in house, a mailing list containing over 600,000 names. Potential buyers are selected to receive a brochure through consideration of many factors, including auction attendance, Standard Industrial Classification Code (SIC), and number of employees.

In addition to a brochure, we supplement the direct mail program with advertisements in selected newspapers and trade publications. We prepare the ads and send camera-ready artwork to the selected publications. Timing is important regarding when the advertisement appears before the public. The advertisements complement the direct mail program by reaching those individuals within the same company who might not be the immediate recipient of the brochure. Newspaper ads also reach those few business people not on our list, as well as, the general public whose interest would be in vehicles, small tools, shop and office equipment. We allow sufficient time for a potential buyer to inquire about details of the sale and receive a brochure by return mail.

Winternitz will supply the necessary supervisor who will oversee the auction sale program from the inception through the sale. Our supervisor will be on the premises for the time necessary to assure the desired results. The auctioneer in-charge will also review the progress of the sale preparation and be available to you.

Our supervisor will oversee the tagging, lotting and cataloging of all items and arrange them in the order in which they will be sold. He prepares the information to be incorporated into an auction catalog, which will be handed out to prospective buyers upon entering the plant for equipment inspection. He will also arrange for the catering and a security guard for the day of the auction sale.

We will also supply the clerks, bookkeepers, deposit takers, lot callers and auctioneers for the day of the sale (Live Onsite Auctions). Our sales are fully computerized and our bookkeepers use the computers to maintain complete sales records, invoices and current sales totals (even while the auction sale is in progress).

Winternitz, Inc. will advance all monies required to cover the auction expenses as outlined and will be reimbursed for all costs and commissions from the gross sale proceeds.

Winternitz will be responsible for the collection of deposits and for the final payments from all buyers as detailed in our agreement.

You will receive a partial distribution of available sale proceeds approximately 10 working days after the sale, as soon as Winternitz has determined that the buyers' checks have cleared the bank and that our account has been credited.

Within 30 days after the sale, Winternitz will send you the balance of any remaining sale proceeds due along with a full and detailed report of sale. This report will include a complete accounting of the auction sale, as well as a detailed breakdown of expenses incurred and copies of invoices paid. This report will also include a copy of the auctioneer's original sale catalog, detailing all items sold with their respective prices.
